The legendary guitarist, musician, producer and founding member of the British band Delirious couldn't pass up an opportunity to work with him. StuG requested a drive pedal that can be used in various situations such as tours and studio work, and this Kilt was born. With V2, it has been refined into a compact and even more versatile tone machine.
Kilt V2 takes the circuitry at the heart of Dirtbox Version 1, a major update to the legendary Expandora fuzz pedal, while giving you more tonal options than ever before. It uses a specially selected op amp with ultra-low noise, slew rate for a smoother response, and better character than his original Expandora. Additionally, there are three toggle switches that expand your tone options. The CUT/FLAT toggle lets you cut unwanted low-end frequencies so they fit better in the band's mix. When set to the "FLAT" position, it covers the bass response that was sorely lacking in his original Expandora, and matches heavy guitar riffs and basses. The G1 and G2 toggle switches allow you to select various variations of distortion by switching the input and output of the clipping section in the circuit depending on the resistance value. This method is very different from diode clipping selectors such as normal drive pedals. This gives you a wide variety of sounds and tone options, and the Kilt V2 offers a wide range of sounds, from light transparent drive to wall-thick distortion.
– When both G1 and G2 toggles are in the down position, it is the lightest gain setting, producing a light drive sound like breaking up an amp.
– Flip up the G1 to add a touch of drive.
– Flipping up the G2 will increase the saturation and sustain of your lead tone for a fully distorted sound.
– Flip up both G1 and G2 toggles for almost uncontrollable gated fuzz/distortion.
New in V2 is the ability to toggle the G2 toggle on the Red Remote. This allows you to instantly flip to heavy overdrive/fuzz with a footswitch, keeping the same versatility as the V1 but in a more compact size.
