If you've ever heard the original Marshall JTM45, you know the sound is classic rock and roll. A true classic, the JTM45 can make a Stratocaster sing or a Les Paul scream with its warm and rich tone character. Our Charlie Brown is voiced to transform any good amp into a living, breathing replica of the tone that built an era. The Charlie Brown V4 builds on the popular V3, keeping its heart and soul, but adding more flexibility and choice. Let's go look at the controls.
If you look at the pedal, you'll find the controls VOLUME, DRIVE, BASS, MIDS and TREBLE. The VOLUME control works like a master volume on your amp. Simply turn it clockwise to increase the volume, and counterclockwise to decrease the volume. The DRIVE control controls the amount of distortion/overdrive in the signal path. Turn fully clockwise for as much distortion as you can get, and turn fully counter-clockwise for the cleanest setting. GAIN below 50% results in a harsh, low-gain overdrive, a sound that Hendrix liked. With GAIN (DRIVE) set to the upper half, a whole new world opens up, and its natural crunch sound makes it a standout in our line of overdrive pedals. Turn it all the way clockwise for a high-gain overdrive paradise.
New in V4 is the addition of BASS, MIDS and TREBLE controls. To faithfully recreate vintage Marshall amps, we decided it was time to incorporate a complete Marshall-style tonestack. All three of these controls cut and boost frequencies, and are relatively flat at 12 o'clock. The right side 1/4" jack is the input and the left side is the output jack.
