MEET JOEL MOORE

Joel teaches clarinet, saxophone and piano. In 2000 earned an M.M. in Jazz Pedagogy from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has studied with Rick Margitza, Bob Berg and Ellis Marsalis among others. Also taught at three Chicago area universities (jazz history, music appreciation, jazz ensemble and jazz improvisation) and instructed hundreds of private saxophone and clarinet students since 2003. Joel is a passionate performer and educator dedicated to demystifying jazz improvisation.

Lessons will focus on tone development, instrumental technique, reading music, theory and jazz improvisation.  He plays jazz, rhythm and blues and also a bit of classical saxophone. 

“Many of my former students auditioned into their top middle school and high school music ensembles and several were awarded college scholarships at Northwestern, Berklee College of Music, University of Denver, etc.
